The Unseeing Eyes

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I have been exceedingly enamored by this picture ever since I capped it (along with many others) from the Prada webpage. Whether the exhaustion (as displayed by the slight bruising of eye circles) is the result of a fast-paced fashion week or if Jessica was just feeling slightly melancholy at the moment this picture was taken, there is something quite complex about her expression, a mix between extreme boredom and perhaps even a thought of

'Why am I here?'

On closer (and admittedly, more freakish) observation, there seems to be something unseeing about Jessica's eyes, something that shuts her away from the bustle about her and shuns her from the human contact of her dresser as she buttons her shirt. It's a look of utmost desolation, something inherent to seclusion and hits close to loneliness.

Or perhaps, the girl was just bored out of her mind and the lonely emo girl in me chooses to over-interpret things. However, nevertheless I feel connected to this image and I only wish she chose to display this look more often in her editorials.

you, an emo girl? NEVAH!

I actually really like this picture as well, though I can't really tell you why. What you expressed is so eloquent I can't compete. ^_^ All I can say is that I've definitely become "infatuated" with pics of Mona that most people I'm sure would fine blegh b/c she looks a bit tired/pale/sickly in them. But alas, these people do not know unconditional love like you and I do. HAHA just kidding :P Maybe it makes them seem more human/real? I mean I know you and I are not particularly inclined to put our girls on pedestals, but still, there's a distance about them. We don't know them. We'll probably never know them. But every once in a while, if you're paying close attention, you can get a glimpse into a more private side of their personality from pictures like this.

Or maybe that's what we tell ourselves so we don't feel so distant from our favorites. *shrugs* No idea XD

Oh yay! I love patented Nicole replies.

Hmm, yes I have to say we'll never get to know the girls behind the picture but I find myself constantly wondering who Stam is behind her facades. It's like a shell you want to break through.

Of course it so greatly pains me to say that Stam doesn't sound as intelligent as I imagine her to be but she must be artistic in some sense to be the muse of so many top photographers.

I must say I prefer backstage pictures more than runways because like you said, we get such a sense of personality from them. On the runway, they're merely hangers for the designers but backstage, that's where they really shine.

Supermodels are so tired! All the day, shows, and with: backstage, fotos, makeup, parties, and rides... I've read somewhere Jessica trie to sleep her 8 hours in night! But i think this career is very very difficult! With the Fashion Week besides!
